Trenyce was born Lashundra Treniese Cobbins on March 31, 1980, to Jesse and Linda Cobbins. It didn't take Trenyce's parents long to realize that their daughter was very gifted. While still just a toddler at the age of four, she began singing jingles she heard on the television and radio. Trenyce became a shining star and was recognized as such at every level of schooling from grade school, to Junior high school, to high school. She constantly displayed her singing talent while competing in local talent shows and school pageants, even winning the title of "Miss Sophomore" and "First Alternate" to Miss Junior at Central High School. After high school, Trenyce attended the University of Memphis, on a full music scholarship and further developed her talent as part of the school's "University Singers" organization and "Sound Fuzion", a University band that toured the state of Tennessee performing in different venues and displaying a wide array of musical genres. While at the University, Trenyce majored in nursing and completed three years, before deciding that medicine was not her calling. Trenyce decided to take a break and to give herself a year to make it in the music business. In addition to her high school and college titles, Trenyce performed in numerous venues in Memphis, gracing the stage of reputable establishments such as Rhythms Nightclub, Precious Cargo, and Isaac Hayes Restaurant to name a few. Trenyce has also given back to the community by singing at various events held by charitable organizations such as the NewsChannel Three Kids Count Expo, the NAACP Gala and the Miss Kappa Alpha Psi Pageant. She did not limit herself to competition in local events either, Trenyce also competed in the national NAACP Act-So Competition in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996, where she won first place in a competition that included over 125 contestants from all over the country. Trenyce had taken that break from school and was working at a job she loved when she learned that the show "American Idol" would be holding auditions in Nashville, TN in October of 2002. She seized the opportunity. Trenyce camped out for 3 days and nights on a cold rooftop, auditioning first for producers and executive producers and almost lost her voice in the process. Finally, she was chosen by celebrity judges, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell to audition in California against the top 250 contestants chosen from the nationwide search. Trenyce made it through that round to the top 32, and finally into the prestigious top I2, where she performed dynamically before national audiences every week and connected with millions of fans who voted her to a 5th place finish in the competition to find America's most talented young person. During the months of June and August of 2003, Trenyce was a featured performer in the American Idol II Live Concert Tour. Easily the most exciting performer in the show, Trenyce wowed crowds all over the United States and parts of Canada with outstanding performances of Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" and Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing". The tour started at the end of June and took off as the biggest event of the summer, outselling the Justin and Christina tour as nine of the 12 finalist, including the Memphis native, performed night after night at a total of 41 cities in 55 days. Trenyce's performances were given rave reviews and many even stated that she simply "shines" on stage compared to the other performers. She puts on a great show and is very energetic. The quality of her performances serve notice that the rising star could very well stand alone and be a fantastic artist in her own right for many years to come. Though her American Idol experience is over, it seems only the beginning for Trenyce and many are recognizing her talent and overwhelming star quality. Trenyce has appeared on national television on CNN, Live with Regis and Kelly, Extra, ET, Fox, and Friends, the CBS Early Morning Show, the Wayne Brady Show, the Pulse, Inside Edition, Good Day Live, the Today Show, TRL and she is recognized nation wide as a singing sensation, whose celebrity status is on the rise. Locally in Memphis, TN, she has been featured in such periodicals as Grace Magazine, Proud Magazine, Party Source and was even named one of Memphis' 30 Most Beautiful People in Elite Magazine's special issue released in June of 2003. She's been featured in almost all of the Mid South's highest rated newspapers, such as The Commercial Appeal, The Silver Star News, and the TriState Defender. Recently, Trenyce was honored by both the Mayor of Shelby County and the Mayor of the City of Memphis and given a certificate of achievement as well as a key to the city. Trenyce is now looking forward to expressing her own individuality as a singer/songwriter, model, actress, producer, spokesperson, entrepreneur and founder of a performing arts school. The young 23 year old star has a bright future ahead of her, and plans to make all of her dreams come true one step at a time. As a singer she would like to establish a style of music that blends both class and sexiness with the modern style of pop and R&B. She wishes to showcase her wide range of ability by singing powerful songs similar to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" but also have the edge and sexiness found in songs such as Beyonce's "Crazy in Love". She loves to experiment with her voice and will not be confined to one genre of music. She has the ability to branch out into various styles and still remain true to the millions of loyal fans that she established during her American Idol experience. As a performer, Trenyce's concerts will always provide something for everybody, since she can gracefully sing love songs or power ballads, or perform up tempo songs while energetically dancing, and singing, giving audiences a complete concert experience. As an artist, Trenyce has expressed a need to constantly reinvent herself, displaying her sexy, edgy, yet unique style, which she one day hopes to benefit from by becoming one of the most successful entrepreneurs of her time. She is currently working on an aromatherapy line, "Serenity of Beverly Hills" clothing and/or shoe line, and a book about her complete Idol experience. Very few new artists can offer what Trenyce effortlessly combines. Boundless singing talent, classic beauty, performance and dance ability, stage presence, an edgy style which attracts young people, media savvy, a recognizable and marketable name and image, as well as a base of millions of loyal fans, who are at present, eagerly anticipating a solo release from the talented young singer. With all of her many attributes, Trenyce is preparing to take her career to the next level and achieve all of her goals. And what would stop this young star from reaching all of her goals? Nothing.
