Sari Melain is a film, television, and theatrical actress currently based in Los Angeles. In addition to her continually expanding dramatic résumé, she also holds an extensive background in hosting and broadcast journalism. She has been seen as co-host of the 2007 Woodie Awards, multiple segments and interviews for MTV's TRL & FN MTV, and as co-host of Fine Living Channel's Love Taxi, not to mention multiple guest-star/co-star's on television, most notably on Comedy Central's The Onion. Born Sari Melain Lamela, Ms. Melain is a proud native of the Garden State, New Jersey, hailing from the celebrated and maligned Jersey Shore. As the daughter of a business consultant and former professional dancer of Argentine and Italian descent, it's easy to understand how Sari commands the sweet "girl next door" persona while still encompassing exotic vivaciousness... In other words, girl's got moxie! Ms. Melain was introduced to the performing arts at the young age of six while vacationing in Punta Cana. While the performances rehearsed and staged by the local Club Med's Kid's Camp may have been simply a time-consuming venture benefiting weary parents, it nonetheless ignited a passion within Sari for all things performance. Soon, she was involved with anything and everything that offered her the chance to be creative and take on new characters. Throughout childhood, Ms. Melain won multiple national competitions in the fields of Storytelling, Humorous & Dramatic Interpretation. In addition, she continued her studies in the arts of Dance, Singing, and Acting. She continued her training and education at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. There - in three short years - Sari received a BFA with honors in Drama along with a degree in Journalism with a concentration in Broadcast from NYU's College of Arts & Sciences. As a Tischie, Sari studied with the prestigious Atlantic Theatre Company for two years and Stone Street Studios for Film and Television in the Advanced Program. During her time in New York, Ms. Melain worked for New York Tonight as an A&E reporter and anchor while also segment producing for NY1 for almost two years. She has also studied with Gotham City Improv and the Upright Citizens Brigade for years and continues her studies with UCB in LA. And yet Ms. Melain is anything but single-minded: Sari has lived in Paris, France, is world traveled, a semi-pro tri-athlete, a fitness trainer, and PADI certified in Advanced Open Water & Rescue Diving. She also volunteers at local animal shelters and is an active participant in NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness). Sari continues to share her artistic endeavors and collaborates with other artists in the industry while still finding time for her baby, a Rottweiler named Ebony.
