Roberto Ruiz Céspedes

Born in Santander (June, 1987). Lives in Madrid. Roberto R. Céspedes is Writer, Screenwriter, Director, Producer and Assistant Director with a degree in Film Directing from the KINEMA school and a Master's degree in Screenwriting for Film and TV from the TAI school. Roberto is in the financing phase of his second feature film entitled MARMA RABBIT BOY, with production companies BABIEKA FILMS, CSC FILMS and ENCARNA MOOOVIES. The project is scheduled to shoot in the summer of 2024. Since 2006 he has written, produced and directed 20 short films and 2 experimental films. His feature film STOYAN is in distribution phase (2022). Starring by Tristán Ulloa, Marta Milans and Nicolás Coronado. Feature film with 138 international awards and 72 Official Selections. With World Premiere en the 44th Moscow International Film Festival (A) and with the National Premiere in the FICAL. Feature film selected at the 5TH Pitchbox 2018 and with a Special Mention at the Sitges Pitchbox 2017, both on the FILMARKETHUB platform. His works include BROKEN BASKET, starring Belén Rueda, a short film on which STOYAN is based. He obtained the award for Best Short Film in Piélagos en Corto (2016), Honorable Mention for Best Actress at the Queens World in New York and with more than 40 selections at national and international festivals within the Oscars preselection circuit. Another of his works is HALF HORSE, selected for Best Director at 365: FILM (1st Edition) and the documentary short film SIEMPRE FUI ALEX, with more than 40 selections at national and international festivals and awarded Best Short Film by the Short Films for the Diversity (2017). Roberto has written 15 feature films about the project, 3 of them co-written with severals screenwriters. He has also written 2 commissioned feature film scripts and 4 project fiction series projects. At the same time, he has adapted for series his 2 novels published by Ediciones Camelot: Mero Firmamento and Los Jiménez sueñan como quieren. In 2020, he publish his third novel, which has already been written as a feature film script: Marma Rabbit boy, by Editorial Amarante. Roberto has also been the first assistant director in numerous short films, feature films and TV series, ranging between various positions within the directing department, such us First Assistant Director (8 años, 2020), Second Assistant Director (Sapos y Culebras, 2012) and Third Assistant Director (El Cid, 2020).
