A North London, Middlesex Acting graduate with further extensive training at The Met Film school in Ealing Studios and The William Palmer College. His work as an actor includes both stage and screen with writing and directing experience. His training at The William Palmer college included the reading of classics from Greek Theatre such as Euripides and Sophocles, Shakespeare and moving on to Ibsen, Brecht and later to more contemporary playwrights such as Arthur Miller and David Mamet. Practitioners of particular interest during this period included Edward Gordon Craig and Steven Berkoff During his 3 year Acting Degree at Middlesex, his personal focus shifted toward the study of movement with particular interest in Jacques Lecoq's approaches to the physical aspects of acting. He later went on to focus on Stella Adlers approach to 'The Method' and the differences between stage and screen acting. During his time at The Met Film School at the famous Ealing Studios, he focused again on screen acting and started to study the works of Anthony Hopkins, Denzel Washington, George C Scott, Russell Crowe and Michael Keaton. He can be seen as one of main leads in the 2014 BFI entry '99% Certain' and in Director Mike Clarke's upcoming works for 2016 including 'Love's Innocence Lost' which is currently receiving high praise from Film Critics in North America.
Damien Atkins was born in Australia, but now makes his home in Toronto. He has been seen on stages in Toronto and across Canada and the U.S. (including the renowned Shaw and Stratford Festivals), as well as on television and in movie theatres. Damien got his start as an actor at the age of five with the St. Albert Children's Theatre, a unique and widely respected theatre company in Alberta that produces theatre by children, for adults. He also attended the theatre arts program at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. He has training and experience in classical, modern, and musical theatre. Since his graduation he has appeared in plays by Shakespeare, Wilde, and Pinter, as well as many modern classics by writers like Timothy Findley, Brad Fraser, and Mark Ravenhill. On television Damien has appeared on NBC ("The Matthew Shepard Story"), CBC ("This is Wonderland"), BBC, CTV, Showtime ("Our Fathers"), TMN and the Sundance Channel (as a regular in season 3 of the acclaimed Canadian series "Slings and Arrows"). As a playwright, he has also been produced across the country and on CBC Radio. He was the youngest playwright ever produced by the Stratford Festival. He is the recipient of two Dora Mavor Moore Awards, Toronto's awards for theatre excellence.
